Long-time TJM members know that I’ll give out a little tough love every now and again.
Here’s how TJM works.
Always come from a place of love for yourself and others. Everything that you do needs to come from a place of love.
Love not fear. That’s a critical part of what we do. It’s your base.
Without it, we’re shot ducks. We’ve had our wings clipped and we’re not going anywhere.
But whilst coming from that place of love, you have to be firm with yourself and other people.
You have to use a little bit of tough love every now and again to get to where you need to be.
Without that tough love, we start procrastinating. We start feeling a little bit too content with where we are, which means nothing gets done. We start finding the reasons not to do things.
You’ve got to use different approaches at different times to get the results that you need.
If you’re in the zone right now and everything’s going well, then great! Keep on doing what you’re doing.
But the moment that you start to slip and it’s not working for you anymore, it’s time to make a change.
Remember that TJM isn’t one size fits all. We’ve got to keep making little changes to figure out what works for us and what doesn’t.
That’s why we coach twice a day. We have to catch people where they are right now.
It’s hard to rely on our thinking or our motivation to get it done. If you’re like me, sometimes you’re in a good headspace and sometimes you’re not.
That’s the reality.
Being firm with yourself is the secret for overcoming these drops in motivation.
You wake up in the morning and just draw a line in the sand. Give yourself a little tough love. You’ve stopped using the processes and you know you’re procrastinating.
Draw the line in the sand and tell yourself that change starts all over again from this moment.
You’re going to have a lot of these lines in your life. And each one takes you closer to where you need to be.
I believe in you.
