We’re just starting to dig into 2019, so it’s the perfect time to sit back and think for a minute.
Here’s a question for you.
What are your values?
I want you to think about that right now. Think about who you are and whether your values align with the way that you’re living your life.
Here’s the secret.
Most of us aren’t aligned with our values. So right now, I want you to think about what you want to achieve in 2019. Yes, the present moment is always what’s important. But you’ve got an opportunity to wipe the slate clean here.
Forget about what’s happened in the past and start thinking about what your values are right now. Write them down so they’re always in front of you.
This is an awesome anchor.
If you have clearly defined values, it’s a lot easier to stay the course when you’re trying to lose weight.
It’s all about mindset here.
When you write your values down, you’re saying "this is who I am" or "this is who I want to be."
Once you know that, you can chart your course. You can sit back and figure out what you’re doing that aligns with those values and what you’re doing that might not.
Get rid of the stuff that doesn’t align. It’s not getting you anywhere and it’s not helping you be who you want to be.
That leaves you with the stuff that you know is going to get you where you want to go. And from there, you can build. Figure out what else you need to do so that your life aligns with your values.
Think about who inspires you and what you can do to lead a better life.
It’s all about getting your head right. The weight loss is the easy part. The big challenge comes in getting your mindset right so you can keep that weight off and keep living the life you want to lead.
So that’s my nugget of wisdom for the day. Write your values down and figure out what you need to do to align your life with them.
