Choose to get good at what you do.
Choose to get good at life. If what you're doing is not working, change. Seek the truth, find the answers.
Weightloss, work, life, relationships. You can have an incredible life if you change the lens. You have to dump the old story. "I've always been fat, I've never had money, never found true love, work is hard".
These are stories and past content in your life, not your present moment reality.
The hard work is believing that's it possible for you to be great. Forgive yourself for past mistakes, apologise where needed. Move forward.
And most of all don't see the present moment as a means to an end. It is NOT. The working unit of your life is NOW not when. "When is a fictitious mind based narrative", it is not reality. Come back to reality (NOW) AND PRACTICE intense presence here now. Be playful with now. No agenda. Just do your very best with what's in front of you today.
This is the key to high performance as a happier time on earth.
Maybe you’re still wishing it was the holidays and you’re probably not alone in that.
Now, a new year is awesome for a lot of reasons. It’s a fresh start that gives us the chance to set some brand new goals for ourselves.
But there lies the trap.
Let’s say you’re looking to lose 50 kilos this year.
That’s a lot of weight. It’s so much that the number seems insurmountable.
That’s not to say it isn’t doable of course. But if you’re just saying that you want to lose 50 kilos, you’re going to have to wait a long time for that to happen.
That’s time where you can get discouraged and fall off the wagon. You start eating poorly again and boom!
What weight you did lose comes back and you’re no closer to your target.
What’s the secret?
We put success on a pedestal and we see these people who’ve...
I used to think success meant building companies as fast as possible and making loads of money. Then I went bust. Twice.
Think about how many other businesses do the same thing. They make loads of cash and then collapse.
That’s not what success looks like.
You can apply this to weight loss too. How many people lose weight and then put it back on? You might have done it yourself.
Here’s the key – fast isn’t always best.
Solid is best. You need a solid foundation or everything will fall apart. A business without a foundation collapses. A person trying to lose weight without something solid behind their efforts puts the weight they lose back on.
Fast is temporary.
We’ve got to be so careful about how we view success. There’s so much of this win, loss, win, loss stuff. It’s all fast and you want it right now. But if you get it fast, you’re not going to keep it.
Success comes from playing the long game. It...
The more weight loss becomes a by-product in your life, the more weight you’re going to lose.
Getting rid of your problems and making changes in your life are the real goals.
So here’s what I want you to do.
Grab a piece of paper and write down the numbers 1 to 5. Now, list five things that you want to improve.
Get really specific here. For example, one of your things might be to eat less sugar. Or you might want to consume less caffeine. Maybe you want to knock alcohol on the head.
These five things can be anything as long as they’re specific to you.
Once you’ve got your list, attach a rating to each of your five things. Just a number from 1 to 10 to describe the amount of pain this problem causes you. The higher the number, the more pain.
If you’re following my 21-day plan, you’ve done this already. If...
I could go into some big sales spiel to tell you. But I think it’s better to hear how it all works from someone who’s benefiting from it right now.
With that in mind, let me introduce you to Michelle.
Now Michelle’s not new to my programs. Back in 2015, she started losing weight with the Trim For Life app.
It worked for a while. Michelle managed to drop 15 kilograms with the app.
Unfortunately, life got in the way.
So the weight came back.
A few years later and she’s on The Jowett Method.
In one week, she’d dropped 3.8 kilos. And she has a goal of dropping 50 kilos within 12 months.
But what’s different this time around? How is Michelle going to stick with it when she fell off before?
She says it comes down to a few things.
Firstly, she’s looked inwards and realised that she has a drinking problem. In the past, she’s spent time with the wrong people, which...
Do you have an issue with yo-yo dieting?
Maybe you kick off a new diet and it all goes great for a bit. You lose some weight and feel awesome.
Then you start tailing off. Life gets in the way and that weight starts to creep back on. Eventually, you end up back where you started or, even worse, with even more weight.
So you start the cycle again and it never really ends.
That’s what Mandy was going through before joining The Jowett Method.
She’d started working on her weight issues back in 2009. Mandy tried my own Bodytrim diet and used it to drop 10 kilos.
But she gradually fell away from the diet. Over the next four years, she put that weight back on.
That’s when she started yo-yoing.
She’d start Bodytrim again and start watching what she ate. That lasted for a few days before she gave up and went backwards. She’d lose a little weight, then gain it back, then lose a little again.
It felt like a never-ending cycle.
During this time, she...
We’re just starting to dig into 2019, so it’s the perfect time to sit back and think for a minute.
Here’s a question for you.
What are your values?
I want you to think about that right now. Think about who you are and whether your values align with the way that you’re living your life.
Here’s the secret.
Most of us aren’t aligned with our values. So right now, I want you to think about what you want to achieve in 2019. Yes, the present moment is always what’s important. But you’ve got an opportunity to wipe the slate clean here.
Forget about what’s happened in the past and start thinking about what your values are right now. Write them down so they’re always in front of you.
This is an awesome anchor.
If you have clearly defined values, it’s a lot easier to stay the course when you’re trying to lose weight.
It’s all about mindset here.
When you write your values down, you’re saying...
That brings me to Paul.
Paul has been a personal trainer for his entire life and runs a super successful fitness business. If there’s one person who should know how to keep the weight off, it’s him.
But as he got a little bit older, he started putting on a little weight.
He says that ego got in the way when it came to making the changes he needed to make. He figured that the extra weight was par for the course for anyone who’s in their sixties. He used to look in the mirror and think that 88.5 kilograms was pretty good.
But it wasn’t, especially for the industry that he’s in.
Worse yet, Paul has osteoarthritis. This means that...
Micro and macro goals this year
this is optional - this is not for everyone - use it if you think it helps you. If it doesn't, don't use it. :)
Each month we will run a 21 DTC (day transformation challenge). This creates
3 weeks focused effort
1 week cruise control
That's the best rhythm for longevity when it comes to weight loss. Mindset for life is always the same and a daily practice but this periodisation is brilliant for food
Lose for 3. Maintain for 1
This is a smart operating system. Provides structure without burn out
Then, every 6 months based on the cumulative results people achieve from each 21 DTC I will announce a grand champion
2 every year.
This provides accountability both in the short and medium term and a system to achieve long term success
See you tonight
You can’t wait for life to get better.
Life will always have complications.
It’s always going to throw up hurdles and barriers that could stop you from achieving success in any goal you have.
So you can’t wait.
You have to learn to be happy right now. Otherwise, you just run out of time.
TJM tribe member Alicia found herself struggling to find her happiness. She says she had an addiction to sugar that was taking over her life. Combine that with coffee and you have a lethal cocktail.
Alicia was also taking various prescription medications for anxiety that she wanted to kick. Now, I don’t recommend people to automatically come off their medication when they start The Jowett Method. That’s something for you and your doctor to work out. But Alicia wanted to get away from them and she had the green light to try.
Mindset was the biggest barrier that Alicia faced when trying to overcome these...
